I shouldn't have been so pleased with myself for not being struck down with a respiratory problem as a result of long haul flights! I still haven't succumbed to anything of that nature; instead, I now have the "there's a lot of it about, you'll just have to work through it" bug that's going around the neighbourhood. Lots of feeling very tired, cold, headachy and generally gastrically unsound. I seem to be the last person I know to catch it, but that's small consolation!
It seems that my "weak spot" now is going to be to catch things that have gastric rather than respiratory side effects. However, I'm grateful not to have the permanent side effects that so many people apparently do after radiotherapy - my mind goes back to Nurse telling me it's surprising I've escaped these side effects since, "practically everyone who's had radiotherapy around the abdomen gets them. It's very rare not to." As I've said before, they don't tell you that when they suggest it would be a good idea to have treatment...
It does seem somewhat karmic to have escaped the usual travel-related cold, only to get something local instead... Bah!
