Amazingly, the journey home took about half the time I expected, despite extremely strong cross winds on the motorway. I arrived home roughly two hours sooner than I'd anticipated, which pleased the dogs (and me). It was tiring, though. After a Burns Night supper followed by a day of intensive training and discussion, even four and a half hours driving (and half an hour break) was fairly draining, particularly since a lot of the time was spent fighting against the wind that kept trying to blow the car across the road.
I am feeling amazingly pleased with myself, however. I managed to make a long journey by car and I haven't had to spend the whole of today in bed recovering. In fact, I've been for a walk and bought a load of curtains for my development project, as well as going out for lunch.
Everyone I met while I was away and who hadn't seen me for a while said how well I look. Often, the comment was, "Your eyes aren't dead any more"! (I have forthright friends, which is how I like it). Indeed, it seems that I'm a good example of how surgery can change your life.
Now to think about organising my birthday party.
