Well, despite the best endeavours of the driver of a container lorry to ensure I didn't make it to my destination on Thursday, I arrived in one piece. It feels like a long time since I did an-almost-six-hour-including-a-break-halfway-through drive; indeed, it probably is a long time since I drove for such a long time over such a long distance. Other than rather twitchy leg muscles the following night, I've been fine. I didn't even feel sleepy on my way. Another huge development in my levels of fitness.
Yesterday was very busy as I met up with people I haven't seen for some months. The day started at 9.30 and ended at slightly after 23.00 when the last person left. It was lovely to see everyone again and I wasn't even tired after all that socialising. Must have been the excitement of meeting up with old friends and colleagues!
Today, however, could be a different story. A six-hour training day followed by a six-hour-with-breaks drive. I may be tired tomorrow. Or I may not be.
My next task is to organise a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK as part of my 50th birthday celebrations.
