I seem to be needing to walk a lot again. Time was that I would simply settle down in the evening, whether or not I'd had any exercise during the day. Things have changed.
A friend has been visiting. We've been shopping frantically for the development project. Yesterday, after a hard day's tramping around furniture stores, we both felt the need to go for a walk. So, we trotted down the hill to the pub. A couple of hours later, after a very nice meal, we trotted back up the hill. I commented that I really liked being able to walk quickly up an incline without feeling at all tired or out of breath. My friend replied that she was delighted to see me so energetic; when I first moved here, she told me, she was amazed that I would drive to the village rather than walk. Of course, I hadn't realised that I was doing that, so I was startled to be told about it; I couldn't remember it at all. I wonder if my memory has become selective, removing any remembrance of that terrible time.
I have to admit that I now enjoy taking exercise. A year ago? I wouldn't have imagined how different things could be now.
