Waiting

It may be my imagination, but as my appointment approaches, I seem to have increasing numbers of aches and pains, as well as suspecting my digestive system is not as robust as it might be.

When people used to tell me how nervous they got about 'routine' hospital appointments, I used to make sympathetic noises but I didn't really understand why they should be concerned. Well, now I know why; even if you feel well - perhaps because you feel well - the prospect of "something" being found or further tests required is horrific. No matter how fit you think you are, the niggle at the back of your mind starts to grow into a concern and then into a full-blown worry.

So, if you know someone who has to go for regular check-ups, be patient if they seem to be "making a fuss" about it; it really is worse than you might imagine.
