Too much!

Almost every day there's a news story about cancer in the press. Usually, they're telling us to eat x, to avoid y, to take more/less exercise... If we don't follow the contradictory advice, we'll all die of cancer! I now avoid even looking at these stories. However, there's a new approach now. In the last week, I've seen headlines telling me that I should be tested for: breast cancer, bowel cancer, thyroid cancer, prostate cancer(!) and, today, oral cancer.  It's overkill. All this does is scare people and make them perpetually worried. Preventative medicine is all very well, but you have to use it judiciously. Remember the story of the boy who cried wolf? Maybe someone should think about what that's telling us...
