My kitchen is about to be remodelled, mainly by removing some of the units that are already there in order to create space for my table, currently in the dining room. In order to do this, I first need to empty all the cupboards that are to be moved into the garage (I'm not even thinking about the fact both the walls and the floor will need serious attention once this has happened!) So, today, the packing up of the content of the cupboards began. I am amazed at what I've found. When I first arrived here, I simply emptied cartons into cupboards and vowed to sort out the contents later. Then I was ill. Nothing got done. Next I was given my diagnosis, operated on and given radiotherapy. Nothing got done. Then I began to recover. Nothing got done.
Almost 4 years after arriving here, I'm finally making progress. The remodelling of the kitchen and the sorting of the contents of cupboards into piles marked, "Keep", "send to charity shop", "throw away" is a metaphor for recovery, renewal and moving on, but goodness me, it's exhausting work!
