Festive cheer

Another Christmas is bearing down upon us. If one more Santa Claus gives cries of "Ho, ho, ho" as I walk past, I shall take umbrage and ask him what's so funny...

I am approaching the holiday season with my usual cries of "Bah! Humbug!" , but I've actually made an effort this year and I've even been to a carol concert (very pleasant, and very seasonal as we drove home through a snowstorm!). I've written a billion Christmas cards and am currently festooned in wrapping paper and sticky tape, not necessarily by design, but the wretched stuff gets everywhere. The dogs are looking nervous, knowing that if they stay still for long enough, they'll be wrapped and shoved under a Christmas tree somewhere, is not posted off to the other end of the earth in error.

What a difference even from last year, where I was grateful to be celebrating the holiday season, but not really up to speed. This year, I feel that everything's more or less under control and I'm able to take part in preparations; last year, I was definitely not quite on the same planet as the rest of the world and the year before that... welll, more of that in a few days' time.

Now it's time to take a deep breath and dive through the piles of wrapping paper. I wonder where I put my address list...
