The country cousin

Time was that going to the city was a "big event" and we'd all put on our best clothes. Nowadays, that doesn't really happen, but, today, I felt really like the country bumpkin when I nipped into the city after my acupuncture session to collect some vacuum cleaner bags and buy some books... Somehow, I ended up walking through the haute couture sections of a very large department store. Given I was wearing walking boots, waterproof jacket, sensible trousers and a heavy sweater suitable for the countryside, I probably did look a bit out of place, but there really wasn't any need for the open-mouthed looks of horror and disgust, in my opinion! I don't smell of farmyards (I hope!) and I didn't have straw in my hair or mud on my boots...

The acupuncture session was good. I feel much better for it, particularly knowing that my tongue looks a lot healthier than it did even three months ago!
