Goodness, age is catching up with me. I used to be able to do an intensive writing session and still carry on as normal afterwards. However, this week, after devoting a lot of time to finishing off a report, it's taken several days to recover, though it has to be said that while the writing finished on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday were filled with activities ranging from making lunch for visitors, going to a concert, going out for dinner, cleaning the holiday cottage, tending to the garden and going out to lunch. Admittedly, the social aspects were fun, but even so, after that concentrated writing, I think I probably needed a day doing absolutely nothing. I also caught a cold - is it age that makes my immune system less effective or the after effects of radiotherapy? - and managed to eat something on one of my social outings that really disagreed with me - again, is my digestive system less efficient as I age or has it been affected by radiotherapy? Anyway, whatever the cause, a quiet Sunday - only one load of laundry today as opposed to yesterday's six loads (holiday cottages geneate a lot of laundry!) - I feel much better. By tomorrow, I should be back to normal and not trailing the dogs around in a daze when we go for a walk. Today was a glorious autumn day, and yet I took my breakfast back to bed and then fell asleep after lunch. If I hadn't worn myself out earlier in the week, I could have done so much more today.
Note to self: you're not as young as you were and it may be that you're still getting some after-effects of radiotherapy. Remember, they said you could experience things up to two years after the end of treatment, and there's another six months to go...
