Two years ago, I went to a concert in my local market town. It was the opening date in the first tour by a local folk group. I don't remember much about the concert, apart from the fact that getting to my seat was a major effort; it was up two flights of stairs, and I could hardly make it up one flight.
Tonight, I went to the same place to see the same group. They referred to their last visit and confessed to how nervous they'd then and how much more confident they are now. Their performance was, indeed, much more assured. This time, I had to climb four flights of stairs to get the balcony (the group is much better known and it's hard to get a ticket for their concerts these days). I had no problem at all climbing the stairs, thoroughly enjoyed the concert and can hardly believe how easy it was to get to the top of the building. It's not only the group whose performance is more assured now.
