It was one of those nights. The wind was howling and the rain clattering against the window. Somehow, it got past midnight before I'd noticed, so I duly staggered off to bed, yawning. And then I couldn't sleep. The dogs couldn't sleep either. I knew I was too energetic yesterday! At 2 am, we all got up; the dogs went into the garden and had a biscuit when they came in. I made some tea and peeled some oranges. We all went back to bed. The dogs huffed, puffed and generally harumphed about while I drank the tea and ate the oranges. At 3 am or so, I fell asleep to the sound of snoring dog. At 6 am, the dogs were awake and screaming for their breakfast. I was just screaming.
It's been a long day. But I haven't needed to take a nap and I don't feel particularly tired, despite having braved the horrors of shopping in the city.
The only cloud on my horizon is the hospital visit that's due next week. I really could do without it - I don't seem to be one of those people who is grateful to be given a regular, free check-up. I find it intrusive and unpleasant and, quite frankly, I want them to leave me alone! Ah well, just under four years to go now and I'll be free of them.
