A stress free day?

Today, I had intended to mark some assignments that have been awaiting my attention for a few days. First, however, I needed to get a laser printer cartridge, so I drove to a very busy shopping mall to do so.

Returning an hour later, I decided to have an early lunch and then to settle down to marking. This was the plan.

I had lunch. I started marking. The phone rang. I answered it and then went back to marking. The phone rang. I answered it and then went back to marking. The doorbell rang. I answered it, made coffee, had a chat with my visitor and then went back to marking. A message arrived from a worried student. I answered it - or would have done, had my internet connection been stable; an hour later, I managed to send the message. And then I went back to marking. The phone rang. I answered it and then went back to marking. The phone rang. I answered it and then went back to marking.

By this time, I had marked approximately half of one assignment. I have another 5.5 to mark before Monday. A year ago, I would have been stressed about this. Now, I have come to the conclusion that I probably will meet the deadline but, if I don't, the world won't end. So, I'm going to stop marking for today and get on with my life!
