Endurance test?

There are, it seems to me, few activities more revolting than having to clear up dog vomit in the middle of the night. One of my dogs has obviously eaten something he shouldn't; he screamed to go into the garden at 02:00, then at 04:00, I was awoken by that awful noise dogs make when they're sick. Too late! Out with the cleaning products and stain remover. Goodness knows what he'd eaten, but it was very unpleasant to clear up.

By the time the stain had been removed from the carpet, it was 04:30 and I was wide awake. The dog had gone back to sleep - the other one hadn't done more than open one weary eye, briefly, during the whole performance - but I was ready to go Christmas shopping I was so wide awake! Unfortunately, the only shop open at that time in the morning is the twenty-four hour supermarket, and, anyway, it was pitch black outside and I really didn't feel like night driving.

By 06:00, I'd fallen asleep again, only to have to get up an hour later. So, today will be a test of endurance; will I need to take the abandoned afternoon nap?

The dog, needless to say, has had his breakfast and has gone back to sleep with a smile on his face...
