I've finally worked out what the upside of having been so ill is. I've learned to catnap! When I was so tired towards the end of last year, I would fall asleep without even noticing, waking up hours later. While recuperating, I would still dose in the afternoon, but gradually, the time asleep has decreased; now, if I feel the need, I can close my eyes and dose for five minutes or so, to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to get on with things. What's even better is that I can do this at any time of day now. Could this be what they call 'power-napping'?! If so, I've acquired a new skill as a result of adversity.
There's almost always an upside, isn't there?
