Having been diagnosed with cancer and told I needed radiotherapy, I was unable to find much useful information about the treatment from a patient's perspective. This blog is a record of my own experience, a real description of being a cancer patient requiring radiotherapy, as well as an account of recovery and the after-effects of illness. As time goes on, my dealings with the health system in general may also be mentioned, as long as I continue to be clear of cancer.

Avoidance Tactics
I keep an electronic appointments diary and I've just noticed that as my next visit to the hospital approaches, I'm adding more and more to it, simply to stop those dreaded words "Hospital check-up" coming into view on my screen... The less in the diary, the more weeks you can see 'at a glance'. If things go on like this, I shall be filling in my daily menus in order to push that view into the distance! Surely there has to come a time when the thought of seeing the nurse doesn't fill you with dread?
