Having been diagnosed with cancer and told I needed radiotherapy, I was unable to find much useful information about the treatment from a patient's perspective. This blog is a record of my own experience, a real description of being a cancer patient requiring radiotherapy, as well as an account of recovery and the after-effects of illness. As time goes on, my dealings with the health system in general may also be mentioned, as long as I continue to be clear of cancer.

The aftermath
After fifteen hours 'on the road' yesterday, I'd expected to be unable to crawl from my bed this morning. However, I managed to get up without too many yawns and positively raced up a very steep hill from the bottom part of the town to the Abbey, arriving only slightly out of breath (I couldn't even have made it up the hill six months ago!) I was overjoyed when a friend who takes over from me at the Abbey gave a cry of, "My, you're looking well" as she relieved me of my tourist-greeting duties. In the last week, everyone I've met who hasn't seen me for a while has said the same thing. I wonder why nobody mentioned how poorly I was looking last year...
