My question yesterday was whether I would be able to carry out my duties as a voluntary steward in the local Abbey church, having been away from such activity for the last six months while undergoing treatment. The answer was that I found the hour or so spent guiding tourists and answering their questions far more enjoyable than I did before my break.
Rather than feeling tired and resentful at giving up my morning, and wondering why on earth I was doing so, I found that the time in the Abbey raced past. I must have been looking more approachable than I had done previously, too, since many more visitors came to ask me questions than usual.
I really enjoyed my day of voluntary work and wasn't remotely tired when I got home, which is what I'd been concerned about. In fact, I've even volunteered to do some additional hours in the Abbey or its gift shop. My next move, then, is to return to the Guild of Guides in the town and to start taking parties of tourists around the historically interesting areas.
The renewed energy I feel is amazing!
