Autumn Sunshine

What a beautiful day it's been. Having spent the morning and early afternoon at the cottage getting it ready for the next visitors, it was good to spend some time just enjoying the sunshine and thinking how much I enjoy September sun. The light is wonderful at this time of year, and this week, for the first time, my breath clouded when I stood in the garden in the (very) early morning.

For the first time, I did something I've been meaning to do for a while; I drove west into the hills as the sun set. The sharp, black silhouettes of different rock formations against the bright red and orange sky was as spectacular as I'd expected - and the ghosts of frontier soldiers of long ago were definitely moving just outside the periphery of my vision. It was quite comforting to know they were there, protecting me...

Someone said to me recently that if I'm worrying about my dentist, my general health must be ok! That's probably true. Even truer, perhaps, is that I must be really well now, since I can worry about the fact that the next guests haven't yet turned up at the cottage even though night has  fallen, making it impossible to find! Lucky I thought to leave a torch at the back door for them - if they arrive now, they'll never be able to park their car (if they're bringing one) without a torch.
