Weekend again

Today has been relatively busy; a changeover at the holiday cottage always makes Saturday feel activity-packed. It's amazing how long it takes for two of us to clean a two bedroomed cottage, but we like to do it properly so that new guests feel that they're coming to a property that is looked after and has been made ready specially for their visit. It was gleaming and sparkling and smelled fresh and clean when we left, almost five hours after our arrival.

Nowadays, my Saturdays seem to be completely filled with cleaning, doing laundry, hanging it up to dry and putting it away. This morning, I carried two enormous bags of clean laundry and soap from my house to the holiday house. The walk takes around 12 minutes if I have no "luggage"; today it took around 18 minutes because of all that laundry, but as I strolled down the hill, clutching to mega-sized bags of laundry, milk, liquid soap, local newspaper, bread, butter and cleaning products, I mused upon the fact that even two months ago I would have found carrying such a load quite exhausting. Not only did I make that journey down the hill today with my "luggage", I even found time to give some directions to some tourists who'd got lost - and I *didn't need to put my bags down*(!), even though I spoke to the lost tourists for five minutes!

It's wonderful to feel so much stronger as each day passes.
