Yesterday

It was a good birthday, though it started with a massive power outage that lasted for some hours, hence the lack of birthday blog message.

I have some amazing friends. What can I say?

Thank you to everyone who joined me in the Scout Hut, thank you to Bev for playing the Northumbrian pipes so beautifully, to Vicky for the food, to Pam for supplying the wine, to Agnes, Val, John, Jim, Pamela and Kim for all their incredible help. And a HUGE thank you to May for the cake, the patience, the preparation and help above and beyond the call of friendship. One more thank you to Auntie Margaret for the fabulous flower arrangements and for not showing my embarrassing baby photos to too many people!

Some people couldn't join me in person for various reasons. I hope they know they were missed.

For those of us who are cancer survivors, and there were quite a few of us present, even if nobody knew it, I think it was a successful night. I haven't quite finished counting the donations, but it looks as though it's more than £600 once the website donations are included!

Three cheers for all my friends!!

Photos to appear later...
