Busy, busy, busy

It never stops! Today I'm off to Hungary to a meeting. As soon as I get back, I have to mark assignments and prepare for my birthday party.

The venue is booked, the invitations sent, the caterer organised... All I need to do now is sort out party games and see if the 'letter of endorsement' supplied by Cancer Research UK will persuade any local traders to make a tiny contribution of a prize for each game. That should keep me occupied.

I confess that until last year, setting up fund raising activities was something I thought about occasionally, but I never thought I'd be doing it for real!

How nice it is to have the energy to do all this. Something else I couldn't have imagined, even a year ago. The human body is a wonderful thing - it seems to recover from fairly major trauma much more quickly than you might suppose. Today's question though: how much does the human spirit have to do with recovery? Would I feel as well as I do now if I'd taken a pessimistic view of my cancer and radiotherapy?
