Thank goodness! I'm feeling much better today, so my diagnosis of food poisoning and/or a bug of some sort seems to have been correct. What a relief! I suppose I'll probably spend the rest of my life worrying about tiny symptoms (or bigger symptoms, as in this case), but at least I seem to be ok now.
Today, the first guests left the holiday house (my new interest), so it was off to clean up. In fact, they'd made very little mess - I do like a guest who tidies up after themself - and it only took three hours or so to get the house looking good again, thanks to a friend's help. What I've learned, though, is that I need to keep two sets of everything, since there isn't going to be time to wash and dry all the linen and towels between visitors once they're arriving on a weekly basis. Fortunately, the next visitors don't arrive for a week now, but it was a useful logistical exercise today, working out what has to be done and at what time to ensure that everything's ready by 15:00 (five hours after the previous occupants leave).
So, given how ill I felt yesterday, it's been a busy day today; I did all my own laundry before leaving the house, walked the dogs, prepared to take everything needed to the holiday house, cleaned there and am now off to the municipal rubbish dump. I also have to do some shopping. I shouldn't need to, since I did that this morning while I was out. The dogs are in disgrace. I came home to find the engineer fixing my satellite TV box for me and, while I was chatting to him, the dogs stole my shopping and demolished... one meat and potato pasty, two pieces of apple strudel (intended to be eaten over several days) and 230 g. minced beef (raw). They will not be fed this evening!
Actually, it's good to be able to worry about trivial things like dogs who steal food (well, maybe not so trivial, but anyway...) as it demonstrates that life goes on, regardless of health - or any other - concerns.
So, time to carry on living.
