Rites of Passage

We had a good final send-off for my godfather today; a church packed with people of all ages. A wonderful comment on a life that lasted for 85 years.

It was also good to see that the collection for Cancer Research UK raised a lot of money.

I was particularly pleased that the memorial service collection had been so successful when, on my way home, Icontributed to the Marie Curie Hospice collection box in a local shop, to have the shopkeeper tell me he'd had to chain the box down because someone had walked into the shop and stolen the last one. I can only assume that anyone who would steal a collection box for a cancer charity has never suffered from cancer themselves or had a friend or relative who did so.
