Keeping the crypt

In case you think I've been joking about the fact that I hold the keys to the crypt in the abbey when I'm working there, here's a photo taken in that very crypt!

Since it was a cold day and the heating in the abbey had failed, I spent quite a lot of time down there yesterday - for some reason, it's much warmer in the crypt.

See if you can see the "recycled" Roman stones - the crypt was built in 674 AD, and reused rather a lot of the bits of Roman walls and buildings that were lying around the place, the Romans having left and, thus, having no more use for them.
