I've been putting off phoning my travel insurance provider for ages. I've heard of so many travel insurance companies that won't insure people who've had cancer - or who charge huge premiums even years after the event. My own policy is attached to my bank account, so I was convinced that they would impose all sorts of conditions on me.
After my experience with being classed as "disabled", I was dreading the reaction regarding travel insurance. To my surprise, as long as I haven't had any treatment for six months, they discount the fact that I've had cancer. It's treated as a medical condition and, like any other medical condition, once you've been free of treatment for six months, it's not a factor for insurance purposes! I may have had some harsh things to say about certain aspects of my bank's behaviour, but three cheers to them for treating me like a normal human being!
