It seems that I was correct in my assumption that my weariness of the last few days was related to doing too much. Today, I have moved slowly and done little more than shuffle from house to car to shops and restaurants. Having travelled for the best part of three hours over mountain passes and across the spine of England, I feel relaxed; but then, I didn't have to negotiate the hairpin bends and the hordes of tourist cyclists! I hope my chauffeur isn't too exhausted.
A change, as they say, is as good as a rest. A few hours in the English Lake District is a pleasant way to spend the time. The views are spectacular and, since it's "out of season" at the moment, it's relatively quiet, though busy, as usual in the South Lakes, while the Northern part of the region remains peaceful.
I understand that the local tourist board has decided to encourage more young people to visit the area by producing a rap version of Wordsworth's poem Daffodils. I'm really not convinced that an actor dressed as that other local tourist attraction, a red squirrel, spouting jazzed up, rephrased Wordsworth is necessarily going to have the effect intended...
But at least I've identified the cause of my recent fatigue.
