It never ceases to amaze me how fast the human body recuperates from unpleasantness. Today, after several weeks of rushing through the supermarket and not making eye contact with anyone in the checkout queue, I am able to go shopping without embarrassment! I can buy fruit and vegetables again.
Although I said that I wouldn't complain about a stick of celery again, I drew the line at buying any. But my shopping trolley was one to be proud of; well balanced and containing green, leafy things at last.
I even managed to spend the afternoon doing some voluntary work at the specialist local history library. I couldn't have done that a week ago; I'd have fallen asleep or been in a great deal of discomfort as a result of the radiotherapy. Today, I'm a bit tired now I'm home, but I was able to do four hours there after a busy morning of online teaching. Things are looking up.
And spring is coming.
