The best advice I've been given since my diagnosis is this: always get dressed as soon as possible after you get up in the morning because wandering around in your dressing gown will make you think you're ill.
As I wrote a few days ago, I'm not ill. I'm recovering. In the morning, though, my natural inclination is to flop about, grumbling about feeling tired. To my surprise, getting up and getting dressed immediately you wake up really works! On those days when I've crawled to the shower ( moaning not too gently) immediately after getting out of bed, I've been leaping gazelle-like around the house as soon as I'm into my day clothes. On other mornings, distracted, for example, by email, it's late morning before I've noticed and I've remained in my dressing gown for longer than intended. The result? Less than gazelle-like leaping for the rest of the day. Rather, beached-whale-like flopping...
So, if you're recovering from something, whether it's a minor snuffle or a major operation, once you're on your feet again, get up, get dressed, start leaping! It helps.

Elizabeth: You are so right about the importance of getting up and having an invigorating shower as soon as you wake up. I am not a morning person myself, but can imitate one for several days in succession by doing this. But I do include a nice cup of tea, being of English birth. Keep up the blogging!
